Description
This is the most valuable and very rare wood. It is much expensive even than Ebony. Even the sawdust is expensive which has a great value; looks like dark red powder and has many uses.
This is mostly used by Chinese and Indian Emperors and kings in the late 17th century to early 18 th century. It has fine texture and a straight to irregular grain. The wood has a severe blunting effect on the tools due to its density. But turns good and can be machined. Takes excellent finish and pre boring is necessary for nails and screws.
